The Artwork

The Golden Aviary Portal

Colourful birds animate the dark Tree of Life field, while the surrounding arch is divided into luminous panels of yellow, rose, turquoise and patterned floral ornament. The layered structure creates depth and draws the eye inward like a garden doorway.

Handwoven in Qom over approximately three years with a fine 74 Raj structure, this signed 100 × 150 cm pure silk carpet is accompanied by a certificate from the Qom Hand-Woven Carpet Weavers’ Union. Its strong colour contrast and narrative garden detail make it especially expressive.
